Spam

The Spam Act 2003 (Cth) regulates the sending of commercial electronic messages and the supply and use of address-harvesting software and address-harvested lists. The Act came into effect on 10 April 2004.

To ensure that clients are spam compliant, PLCA can assist with:

  • audits of commercial electronic messages;

  • identification of messages that are subject to, or exempt from, the Act;

  • amending template documents to include necessary information;

  • developing policies and procedures for the sending of commercial electronic messages; and

  • ensuring that the acquisition and use of address-harvesting software and harvested-address lists complies with the Act.

PLCA can also advise on the development of industry codes of practice to promote the responsible use and management of commercial electronic messages – click here for more information.
